It's a well-known plot twist: the hero or villain who suddenly pulls up a mask to reveal that he's not who we thought he was. As unrealistic as that may sound, it turns out not to be only fiction.

In an interview with the Dutch broadcaster NOS, Krik Gunning explains how Fourthline has seen a rise in identity fraud attemps with professional silicone masks and how Fourthline catches these fraudsters.

This trend shows how criminals are becoming increasingly adept at identity fraud. "Fraudsters have not only gotten better at forging official government-issued ID, but are also more aware of someone's digital identity in general."
